Opening GParted causes any volume icons to jump to the top left position.
Doesn't matter if they're mounted or not, if they're powered on & the icon is on the desktop every time GParted is opened they jump to that position.

XfdesktopIconView::ellipsize-icon-labels = 1
and
XfdesktopIconView::cell-spacing = 6
Change the cap I in "view" in your file to small i. Reboot and see if that hardens the installation.

That seems to work, thank you again Trinidad.
What happens now is when Gparted is opened any volume icons for not mounted volumes vanish & any that are mounted jump to the top left, however now when GParted is closed all icons return to their original positions whereas before they would stay in the top left position and have to be moved back manually.

XFCE properties is case insensitive. It shouldn't make a difference, but sometimes it does when blending gnome desktop properties in. It has to do with the way settings are stored in the caches for loading on login. You could build an XFCE desktop user template yourself with a specific area for always placing specific icons, panel, windows, and so forth. Most changes can be tested in XFCE without permanently changing your system. Could be a fun project.

Looks like I spoke too soon, If the volume icons are from internal volumes/partitions it does as I mentioned above, returns them to their original positions when GParted is closed.
But if there's one or more external volume icons displayed on the desktop, when GParted is closed all the volume icons stay in the top left positions.
None of the other icons seem affected, only the volume icons.
Creating some sort of template might be the only way to solve this annoying problem once and for all, but as I have no idea where to even start on something like that I guess I'll just pretend it doesn't happen for now ;D

Try refreshing g-parted. Make sure it lists all the volumes before you close it.

Also if you elect to install channels and use a kiosk mode, you can make a user template. When it comes to using a terminal for modifications Arch and Debian wikis are the best for info. A lot of other sources are not correct as there are subtle differences in commands and tools between distros.

GParted refreshes itself auto when an action has been completed & won't let the user close it (greyed out) until it's finished, and yes, all volumes are shown correctly in it.
Tried a manual refresh when I hadn't performed any actions, no difference.
Seen that link before too, and have tried that solution with no luck.
I know that's the file that gets locked with the command sudo chattr +i ~/.config/xfce4/desktop/icons* which is so far the only way I've found to keep everything 100% where it's put.
As it's only the volume icons affected now, not every icon on the desktop, and only when using Gparted I don't think I'll waste any more time on it.
If I stumble across a solution or what's causing it on my setup I'll make sure to post what I've found.

Today every icon went nuts again after I installed on another partition PCLOS 64bits for testing...????!
A very, very strange thing I must say.
I have done desktop-icons in folders now.
I'm done with it. :
Distro (2.8 ) besides that is perfect.
