Extension webm - LinuxNoob - 01-03-2016 I have noticed that downloaded video's from Youtube have appeared on my drives with the extension or Filename.webm and vlc does not recognize the new format. I know this is not a LL issue but wondering if anyone has a solution to this now or should I wait for VLC to correct this? Knowing VLC can play about almost anything I'm sure changing the extension will not make a difference. Youtube always messing **** up. Re: Extension webm - torreydale - 01-03-2016 Use the Video Download Helper Extension/Add-on in Firefox. Or consider installing the Slimjet browser (www.slimjet.com). Re: Extension webm - Valtam - 01-03-2016 Not sure what could be wrong here. Webm's play just fine here in VLC. Please post the output of: Code: exiftool myfile.webm If exiftool is not installed, install it with: Code: sudo apt-get install exiftool Re: Extension webm - LinuxNoob - 01-04-2016 This is what I got as output Jerry. Code: File Name : Linux Mint 173 - YouTube.webm @torreydale I used to use that one before. I guess I'll re-install and use that if I can't fix this. Re: Extension webm - Valtam - 01-04-2016 Any chance you can upload this file somewhere on the net? I'll take a look at it. Re: Extension webm - Valtam - 01-04-2016 That doesn't work here. How did you get this file in the first place? What browser addons do you have (all of them)? Re: Extension webm - Valtam - 01-04-2016 FYI, this file does play in Audacity, it's audio only, no video. Code: sudo apt-get install audacity Re: Extension webm - LinuxNoob - 01-04-2016 (01-04-2016, 01:04 PM)Jerry link Wrote: That doesn't work here. How did you get this file in the first place? What browser addons do you have (all of them)? There was an extension I was using in firefox called ant video download. It was something I been using for a while and it has been working flawlessly for over a year never had a problem. Recently I have noticed that the file extension had webm after downloading a video from youtube. I just installed dropbox thinking that it would work like and ftp never expected it was going to try and play the dam file lol Sorry about that. Well I took torreydale's advice and installed another download firefox ext and that seems to have taken care of it. I assume you are in no need to have that file right? It's like 15mb big kinda small for a video file and maybe thats why it had only audio. makes sense... Kinda new to ftp and drop box stuff. Note: I noticed the website associated with the ant downloader is moving to another server maybe after they finish that it will be looking after this. |
