Latest update disabled the video display on chrome related browsers - FunkAndCode - 03-21-2024 Hi everyone, I'm just reporting that the last update introduced a little :banghead bug :60: I no longer have the video display on Youtube, Dailymotion etc with Brave browser, same with Google chrome. But it still works fine on Firefox. I saw a similar topic but it's not related to tweaks for me (since I didn't use it) Audio still works fine, images too it's only the video display that is fully white. I hope it will be fixed soon, anyway have a good day all :wave Re: Latest update disabled the video display on chrome related browsers - stevef - 03-21-2024 There have been updates to both Linux kernel and Chrome on 18th/19th which doesn't help establish what is happening, but a recently updated Chrome installation (Version 123.0.6312.58 (official Build) (64-bit)) without any additional extensions on LL6.6 is playing Youtube video as expected for me. Can you confirm 1) The results of these commands Code: inxi Code: cat /etc/llver Code: inxi -GA -xxx Code: inxi -r Code: google-chrome --version Code: find /boot/vmli* 2) Any extensions you have for chrome - open 'chrome://system' in the brower and expand the 'extensions' list Re: Latest update disabled the video display on chrome related browsers - FunkAndCode - 03-21-2024 Thank you for the answer, this is my config: inxi Code: CPU: Dual Core Intel Core2 Duo E7500 (-MCP-) cat /etc/llver Code: Linux Lite 6.6 inxi -GA -xxx Code: Graphics: inxi -r Code: Repos: google-chrome --version Code: Google Chrome 123.0.6312.58 brave-browser --version Code: Brave Browser 123.1.64.109 find /boot/wmli* Code: /boot/vmlinuz I got no extensions on chrome, and I only have lunar reader on brave (I uninstalled it to test without it it didn't fix the bug ![]() Re: Latest update disabled the video display on chrome related browsers - stevef - 03-21-2024 Thank you. One suggestion would have been to get the system to boot the previous kernel (if available) to see if the older kernel worked with new chrome. But I can't see 5.15.0.100 listed. Do you routinely remove old kernels ? Do you have any recent restore points made with System Restore Utility (aka timeshift) for rollback testing ? Re: Latest update disabled the video display on chrome related browsers - FunkAndCode - 03-21-2024 Hmmm I didn't make a restore point. :022: I reinstalled ll6.6 from scratch maybe 3-4 days ago because I did deletie files I shouldn't have lol. I guess I'll have to wait the next update it might get fixed later Re: Latest update disabled the video display on chrome related browsers - Daveyboy - 03-21-2024 Having experienced the same issues as yourself, I think I have now found the solution. After googling the white screen issue I cam across this link and followed it's instructions to turn off Hardware Acceleration within Chrome and having done so this seems to have fixed my problem https://www.partitionwizard.com/partitionmagic/white-screen.html However, after hastily marking my issue as solved yesterday, only for it to reappear - I will wait 24 hours before re-marking it as "SOLVED" this time. I hope this also works for you Re: Latest update disabled the video display on chrome related browsers - FunkAndCode - 03-21-2024 Thanks, I too saw this solution on brave support forum but it didn't work for me :dft004: That's what I was going to say because it really didn't fix it earlier, but now it works :dft002: I won't try to understand this time and just gonna enjoy the result Magic that's all that comes to my mind right now |
