Dell Inspiron E1505 - wifi choices with Install Drivers module
#1
I just put Linux Lite 5.2 on a vintage Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop (with gorgeous big 1680x1050 screen).  The install went very smoothly and error free. Everything works great except the wifi seems to stall out sometimes.  For example, when downloading updates it just freezes up after a while.

I ran the "Install Drivers" module and in the Additional Drivers tab, it says Broadcom and subsidiaries . . . "device is not working" and gives a choice to "use Broadcom 802.11 . . .", or "do not use the device" (which is already selected). It's unclear to me what this means and the best choice to make.  Screenshot image below,

Give the driver a go, should be ok.

I tried using the choice of "Broadcom 802.11 Linux STA wireless driver source from bcmwl-kernel-source (proprietary)" but upon reboot, wireless networking would not activate.  I switched back to "do not use this device", and things appear to be working correctly. Smile
