Integrity of Virtual Machines & Upgrading from LL2.8 to 3.0
#1
I've another question about VMs, looking ahead to June when LL3.0 is released.
When upgrading from LL2.8 to LL3.0 I will need to do a clean install  as I've understood
that Lite Upgrade won't work when upgrading from one LL series to another. However, I want
my existing VMs to continue working in LL3.0.  How do I ensure this?

Before you answer you will need to know that:
- I have two physical SSD drives in my PC, SSD1 and SSD2
- SSD1 is the primary drive, where LL is installed as has separate root & home partitions
- SSD2 is purely for data storage (including the VMs), its directories being symlinked to /home on SDA1

Many thanks again for your advice.
Mike
64bit OS (32-bit on Samsung[i] netbook) installed in [i]Legacy mode on MBR-formatted SSDs (except pi which uses a micro SDHC card):
2017 - Raspberry pi 3B (4cores) ~ [email protected] - LibreElec, used for upgrading our Samsung TV (excellent for the task)
2012 - Lenovo G580 2689 (2cores; 4threads] ~ [email protected] - LL3.8/Win8.1 dual-boot (LL working smoothly)
2011 - Samsung NP-N145 Plus (1core; 2threads) ~ Intel Atom [email protected] - LL 3.8 32-bit (64-bit too 'laggy')
2008 - Asus X71Q (2cores) ~ Intel [email protected] - LL4.6/Win8.1 dual-boot, LL works fine with kernel 4.15
2007 - Dell Latitude D630 (2cores) ~ Intel [email protected] - LL4.6, works well with kernel 4.4; 4.15 doesn't work

If you use VirtualBox as your "host", and you going to re-insntall SSD1 system the only thing you'll need to is just to re-create the symlinks.
