[resolved] TimeShift: Restore Your Linux Desktop To Previous State

Is there anyone here who knows anything about TimeShift and can recommend it.

TimeShift is a application that provides functionality similar to the System Restore feature in Windows and the Time Machine tool in Mac OS.

I m using it right now , gotta find a way to burn iso of my full install with it .

Tried with Systembackup & it didn t work to my tasts ( iso backup ) .

As for Time Machine & System Restore , I don t have any experience with these .

If you are not able to boot your system due to some issue then in order to restore a snapshot you need to boot from the Ubuntu Live CD. After that you can install TimeShift on the live system and restore the snapshot.

Restoring snapshots using command-line is not supported. You need to run the GUI in order to restore it

I am using TimeShift for / backups.  I use Back-In-Time for data/docs.

I am more intreseret in backup of the system itself. To my doc etc. I use Dropbox and external hard drive

Well , it still doesn t work on iso burn , had to reinstall again due to Linux Mint screwed install , I decided to have it easy ! lol , dual install with LL with their Install Alongdide LL , big mistake here ! lol .

Anyways , have nothing good to do in life due to sickness , so I ll reinstall & pimp again , never an easy ride  . lol

If I ever fing a way to make an image WITH grub2 bakedup with the partitions , it would be great , Systemback doesn t allow that , Timeshift either .

Tried with Unetbootin to backup with Clonezilla , still a no go again .

I back up and restore entire drives with Redo all the time.

With Redo, restorations usually take much less time than backing it all up in the first place, and SSDs back up to and restore from a USB 3.0 drive VERY QUICKLY - about 50 minutes to create, about 15 to restore...

My experience is similar to N4RPS -- for both Windows and Linux systems. I previously used Acronis TrueImage on Windows, but now Redo is my trusted backup system. -- Glen
