Equivalent to System restore?

Thanks for the replies ... her being a Luddite means making iso's etc and using those to restore from is out of the question, we live at best 40 mins drive apart and it's not something that is easy for her to cope with over the phone,  Systemback is the go, looking into how to automate that, this has happened again, the unit is now running 2.2, the power plug is setup so it cannot be pulled out and a power out has messed it up, managed to get it running again but it may have a hardware fault now as it has gone bad again and even with the vars.sh system file edit "runfsck=yes" the system hangs on boot, gunna give her another laptop and see whats going on with it later.
