I see coming back from a sleep/suspend/hibernate or lock screen that some text in the panel, the Whisker menu, and the right-click menu doesn't reappear, even after running "xfce4-panel -r" a few times. Perhaps I'll be brave enough to try more than just a kernel security upgrade in the future. But for now, I'll live with it.

Funny thing. Text even in the Screenshot popup didn't show. It's good I had the Imgur radio button memorized. I'll log out and back in to make everything regular again. I did also try the following taken from https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/other...se-cursor/.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:oibaf/graphics-drivers
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo reboot
