Boot into live USB again and remove the installer's slideshow.  Then run the installer again.
Code:
sudo apt-get remove ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu

Have seen cases before where slideshow freezes on certain people's hardware.  Why?  I have no idea, but getting rid of the slideshow gets rid of the problem.  Have a feeling that's what's going on with you.
