When you installed LL, did you test the system, eg run a few applications, create, save and reopen a file or two? Did you have permissions problems at that stage? If you *have* to do a clean install, then test first because I think your problem is created when you copy over your large data files, for some reason creating 'permissions hell'. Permissions can be changed recursively without the need to change for each file individually. I'm have no claim to be an expert, but like others, we are all trying to help but get the feeling I'm banging my head against a brick wall as you appear to have made up your mind that LL will not work for you. I see no other complaints that LL needs passwords for almost every action, unless you are working with system files/directories.
