Time to move wipe best computer Win to Linux Lite

Hi all

I think it's time to kill this old dog I been using HP D530 Small Desktop,  Intel Pentium® 4 4gb Ram it does struggle doing most thing about 15 years old.

I did make a post here about it being dog slow was doen to Hard drive about to fail I got a new onw but still sound like it's going to take off the noises it makes.

I got a better computer ish maybe ten years old Acer  had a OME of win7 I very filmier with windows so was using it to cut video to edit photos I just don't like Gimp.

Talking out load this will work right.
So my plan is load Lite and then use virtualbox and have Win7 should I need to do that kind of stuff.

May main consern is how to make Linux/Lite secure I don't get the fire wall most can just turn on and it does it job, with a Linux I see you have to make rule.

You'll like the change over. I have been lucky enough to get old servers from our local city hall for free because I drink beer with the local IT support dude and my wife
works in the building also.

All hard drives were pulled and they were on the way to the landfill.
They are all screamer fast now with Linux running on them.

Only took a little dinero from my beer fund to set them up. Something not legally capable with Windows.
Being a computer user since 2008. I am way more comfy using Linux vs using Windows.
When I need Windows for DRM what ever. Like Itunes. I have my wife for that.

I done it wiped windows 
DAM LL 2.4 runs fast on better PC no more grinding away waiting for pages to load so so.
Copying bookmarks over loading software.

I have just replied to your private message.

This should clarify your concerns regarding firewall. In your case you don't need to set up any rules as by default all incoming connections will be blocked. That's what you need/want as you don't run any services on your computer another computer needs to use/access. So, activating the firewall is all you need to do as discussed in the other post of yours

So nice using a faster computer, had a couple of FF crashed but that's all.

I had a crash today don't matter as I was copying data to rebuild bix today.

I loaded as before on reboot computer just hang as I had usb still in port. Took out rebooted still hangs on start screen.

So reloaded again with encryption ticked and other setting (screenshots) to  add.

Well computer taking time to load making account now must be over an hour loading.

I'm typing this from my phone. Just got to add screen shots of setting.

Should I leave computer loading or start agsin something gone wrong?

^ this was the error I got before i stated to rebuild today.



^ setting encryption ticked on keeped getting errors after install on clicking reboot.
Now I loaded with no encryption ticked and LL has loaded. Did anyone else have this problem or It's me?

Also I ticked box to encrypt home folder blue bar on loading screen stuck same place as last time creating user
Black round thing spinning away blue bar seven across but not moved any more.
