Hopefully, the next version of Linux Lite will keep the current kernel because everything is working great. If not and there is a problem with a newer kernel, I'll have to learn how to roll back to the one in 2.4.

Not speaking for Jerry, but I think shiping with the current LTS kernel will be the case. And still providing the latest kernel release in the lite repos. So that users get the best of both worlds. I see no reason currently to ship the newest kernel on the iso. If anyone has a good reason counter to this tho...  please correct me.

Can someone remind me what the "the current LTS kernel" is, since I have lost track with various rash updates?

I solved some of my bugs by purging xorg-edgers and recofiguring, but I still have a whole list of error messages at boot and occasional freezes.

First, LTS is long term support. Basicly atm 4.1 is the current stable. while as other versions of the kernel are the long termm support kernels.

And why did you need xorg-edgers? if it's an older machine your no doubt better off with an older kernel. save for some bug in a version of something you need/want. Using ppa's (even semi offical ones) can be dangerous.

My guess is 3.13 since my original install had it still in place taking up space.

Hmmm. Forum reply box does not seem like opera-developer 32  64bit. Because I do not see any size in reply but preview shows them. I am not even messing with size in reply toolbar. This is all on auto.  I guess I won't post here in Opera anymore.

I use xorg-edgers to get the latest Nvidia drivers.

I have followed the advice given here and rolled back to
3.13.0-57.

I went into that kernel from the boot screen instead of 4.1.1, then  used Lite Tweaks to remove 4.1.1 then did
sudo update-grub

I don't know if this is an approved method but it seems to have worked.

Have had a second go at kernel 4.1.1 and solved most of my problems  by fixing the nvidia driver problem.
I needed to install bumblebee so I could chose 252.30 in prime rather than nouveau drivers.

All seems well now apart from the Wifi not working as the broadcom driver which is installed ( and working on other kernels) isn't seen...
