First of all, please let me know if this belongs in "other" instead of Video Cards!
I was wonder what sort of luck people have had with DisplayPort based USB monitors - particularly with the latest 2.6 update (I'm using 64 bit).
I've got an AOC e1649fwu DisplayPort USB display I was thinking of trying out but:
a) my computer is kinda of buried (and I'm lazy)
b) my e1649fwu is a bit of a daily use device on a different machine (so I don't want to risk screwing up the display somehow)
I've seen some general search results where people have talked about getting such displays working with Ubuntu, but these pages also often talk about needing to install custom kernels, change desktop environments, adjust primary displays, etc. I'm not tech phobic - but in the world of Linux it doesn't take much for me to get hopelessly lost, and I've already got one Linux box that recently died for no reason - I don't need to have a second one waiting on me finding some free time. :-)
Thanks for any input!
