Switched to proprietory drivers for Wifi now nothing works

Like the title said.

I installed LL 2.2 onto an older gateway m520 laptop in order to upgrade it after installation. Installation was flawless with the exception of wireless not working. The wired LAN worked perfectly. And so just before beginning the update process I went into the "additional" software section of "Install drivers" app to see if perhaps a proprietary driver was needed to get the wifi to work.
I did find a listing to switch to the Broadcom wireless driver, and made the switch. The action did not work and I lost the wired connection as well, and have no option to revert the action. can anyone help me figure this out?

have you tried Menu>All>Install Drivers>Additional Drivers tab ?
It should have an option for do not use device, or other than the proprietary driver.

If not -

1/Open a terminal window and copy paste this -

sudo lshw -C network

2/ press enter.
3/ Type your password and press enter
4/ Copy paste the results of "Wireless Interface", and below this "Product" and "Vendor" into your reply.
