Wifi not working

Hi people!

I recently installed LL the install well as everything is working (I didn't test CD-R/DVD-R drive for recording but it reads) except the wifi.
It detects the available wifi networks and when I'm asked to introduce my wifi home network password nothing happens...

I searched around and this is pretty common.

Need help!

this is the hardware:

Communications: 10/100 Base-TX, Ethernet LAN, RJ-45, Azalia 56Kbps V.90 built-in Modem, (V.92 ready), 14.4Kbps Fax, RJ-11

Wi-Fi Communications: Realtek 802.11(b/g) 13ch-RTL8187B, (WiFi compatible)

Yes I did!
Like I said when I turn on the wifi its detect the available wifi networks, when I introduce the password for my home wifi connection
nothing happens...

If I was typing the wrong password it would say "wrong password" or something like that...but nothing happens and no wifi signal is
presented.

Your b/g wifi chip has been supported for a long while now in Linux.

Did you md6sum check your Linux-Lite iso download before installing to make sure you did not get a corrupted iso/download?

How about opening a terminal also and posting a

That is usually a usb wifi hardware. Not internal pci. Is it a usb wifi dongle?

if so.

lsusb -t

should show the driver loaded for that. There should be no firmware required to install for that older wifi chip. Linux lite should have all of that covered already.

The bad password problem sounds like a mystery to me. Hence the md5sum question I asked earlier. Google and youtube cover what md5sum means so you understand what I am saying.

I this is weird...
I tested with my smartphone making it a wifi hotspot and it works...but with my wifi home network it does not...
It detects the wifi network and i put the pw and nothing happens...

Hi JesusLinux,

Have you ruled out that your router has no MAC access list activated respectively have you put your computer's MAC onto the list?

Also, how is your computer configured as DHCP server, i.e. how are getting IPs assigned to your computer?

Another criteria to check would be the channel used. I once came across a WiFi chip that was not able to connect to channels beyond a certain number.

As rokytnji pointed out, the more info you can provide the better people can help you.

I never did that (or know how to) on all my other devices.
My other laptop with Win10 64bits works fine, smatphone and tablet too,
I never had to config anything, just select my home wifi network type the pw and that is...

Good, than at least you can rule all that out and focus on rokytnji's ideas/info.
You haven't mentioned, did it work when running the live OS, i.e. also during installation?
Hopefully one of the network/Wi-Fi gurus will chirp in to sort this out with you.
