in Ubuntu 18.04 I also found applications inconsistent. UCK does not work on ubuntu 18.04, cubic does not work on ubuntu 18.04 ....... If they do not work on ubuntu 18.04, they will not work on Lite 4.0 either. So much capacity that Lite developers have, they should have already created an application to replace Systemd. MX linux has its own Snapshot application and does not depend on third-party applications. I would not use Linux Lite as a permanent distro.  Smile

THEDEAD, your experience with MX linux is very rare. Actually, I never had problems with MX linux 64 bits. I do not really need a welcome screen, it's not relevant. The only thing that I agree with you, is the lack of drivers, only for nvidia. My notebook has an intel i3, video intel, and I have not had to install its proprietary driver, but I understand that if it subtracts some points to MX in that sense. If I had to leave MX linux, I would probably go back to Xubuntu, not LL.

Linux Lite, of the worst distro if any. I would never recommend such a bad distro.

Ridiculous. I have tested around 20 different Linux distros. After all that, Linux Lite has distinguished itself as the most stable, most intuitive, most Windows-friendly and just all around satisfying of them all. I won't mention other distros, as it is this forum's policy not to do so, but it would be nice if people would actually read the posting rules, so we don't have the kind of distractions evident in this thread.

And as for this post, good grief, get a life!

Nonsense

"A bad workman always blames his tools", as the saying goes
64bit OS (32-bit on Samsung[i] netbook) installed in [i]Legacy mode on MBR-formatted SSDs (except pi which uses a micro SDHC card):
2017 - Raspberry pi 3B (4cores) ~ [email protected] - LibreElec, used for upgrading our Samsung TV (excellent for the task)
2012 - Lenovo G580 2689 (2cores; 4threads] ~ [email protected] - LL3.8/Win8.1 dual-boot (LL working smoothly)
2011 - Samsung NP-N145 Plus (1core; 2threads) ~ Intel Atom [email protected] - LL 3.8 32-bit (64-bit too 'laggy')
2008 - Asus X71Q (2cores) ~ Intel [email protected] - LL4.6/Win8.1 dual-boot, LL works fine with kernel 4.15
2007 - Dell Latitude D630 (2cores) ~ Intel [email protected] - LL4.6, works well with kernel 4.4; 4.15 doesn't work

Just installed it - and it runs beautifully! Will take a little while to get used to the new design (minutes probably), but it is quite the nice upgrade in look, feel and design.

As for 'flamers' on the forum: if you reply to them - all you're going to do is encourage them to 'flame' more. Why sink to their level? Besides: their are many versions of GNU/Linux out there. If you don't like this version - change to one that you like. Try changing Windows or OS X internally; the results will be evident.  Big Grin

Hi, I also just installed LL 4.0 (found a link to the release ISO at Distrowatch) and simply *love* it!

Been on MX-17.1 previously, but because of some system lock-ups I needed a light distro based on Ubuntu 18.04 so here I go...  No problems so far  8)

THANK YOU!!!
